For nearly two decades, Berlin-based ensemble samt & sonders has been shaping the city’s improvisation scene with sharp, playful and fully unscripted theatre. From international improv festivals to countless stages across Berlin, their work has become a fixture of the German improv landscape.
Now they join forces with Berlin beatbox artist Beat Brenning for a special live collaboration: spontaneous stories, atmospheric soundscapes, vocal beats and improvised worlds created in the moment.
Scenes emerge from audience inspiration, music grows live on stage, and every performance becomes a one-night-only experience somewhere between theatre, concert, urban poetry and collective play. No script. No safety net. Just rhythm, imagination and the pulse of Berlin.

samt & sonders is an active part of the German improv theater scene since 2006. They blend playful creativity with sharp social insight. Their work mixes improvisation, storytelling, and experimental formats to spark fresh perspectives and challenge routines. Humor meets depth and audiences become part of the creative pulse of the city.
Paul Brenning is a singer, beatboxer and composer who has been performing successfully both at home and abroad for over ten years. Ever since he was 15, he has loved imitating all sorts of sounds. In 2019, the short film “UNUM”, for which he wrote the music, won a Gold Award at Cannes. He has given talks for, amongst others, the Berlin Philharmonic’s vocal project “Vokalhelden” and the Goethe-Institut. A resident of Berlin by choice, he is the winner of the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Award with his duo “Acoustic Instinct”.

samt & sonders ist seit 2006 ein fester Bestandteil der deutschen Improvisationstheaterszene. Es verbindet spielerische Kreativität mit scharfsinnigem gesellschaftlichem Gespür. In seinen Stücken vermischt das Ensemble Improvisation, Storytelling und experimentelle Formate, um neue Perspektiven zu eröffnen und Routinen in Frage zu stellen. Humor trifft auf Tiefgang, und das Publikum wird Teil des kreativen Pulses der Stadt.
Paul Brenning ist Sänger, Beatboxer und Komponist und seit über zehn Jahren erfolgreich im In- und Ausland aktiv. Seit wr 15 Jahre alt ist, liebt er es, alle möglichen Geräusche nachzumachen. 2019 erhielt der Kurzfilm „UNUM“, zu dem er die Musik schrieb, Gold in Cannes. Referententätigkeiten u.a. für das Vokalprojekt der Berliner Philharmoniker „Vokalhelden“ und das Goethe-Institut. Der Wahlberliner ist Kleinkunstpreisträger des Landes Baden-Württemberg mit seinem Duo „Acoustic Instinct“.
